Camden County GOP Chair Tom Booth and the leadership of the Camden County GOP needs to get serious and call for the resignation of State County Committeeman Jeffrey Stephen Kasko. Kasko, was elected last year as Mayor of Haddonfield.
Haddonfield was one of the orginal seven towns of the Colonial Alliance with Audubon, Oaklyn, Collingswood (home to the architect of the Camden County PD Lou Cappelli) Mt. Ephraim, Haddon Township and Haddon Heights. In recent years local Republicans in Camden and Gloucester counties have supported local police and public safety unions to the point it has become part of the party platform. Camden County GOP candidates and officials activley opposed the Camden County takeover of the Camden City PD and likewise Gloucester County GOP officials were against the closing of the County jail.
Two of the original seven towns Haddon Heights and Haddon Township opted not to proceed with the Colonial Alliance which some believe may be the next division of the Camden County PD.
What is important to note is that every elected Republican official who can vote on the issue was not in favor of it except Kasko. Haddon Heights council is comprised of five Republicans, none of whom supported the move from early on, partially becuase the involvement of Collingswood Democrat Mayor Jim Maley and last night Haddon Township Commissioner and Director of Public Safety John Foley (R), did not support moving forward either.
This leaves Haddonfield's Jeffrey Stephen Kasko, as the lone Republican to support the Colonial Alliance police consolidation study. It is time for Chairman Booth to stand up for what others in his party has stood for, what Chairman Booth's candidates at the local and county level ran on and ask Jeff Kasko to step down as the GOP County Committeeperson to the state GOP committee or publically censure him for his actions.
If Jeff Kasko wants to be a Norcrat tell him there is no place for that in the Camden County GOP, and let him go join Norcross. After all, Kakso voted to appoint Democrat engineering firm. If you act like a Norcrat and talk like a Norcrat...your a Norcrat.
